Texas House Bill 13 – Enhancing Emergency Communications

The Texas Legislature is currently reviewing House Bill 13, a measure aimed at solving one of the biggest challenges in emergency response, communication breakdowns between agencies.

The bill would create a Texas Interoperability Council under the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to develop a statewide strategic plan for interoperable emergency communication systems. It also establishes a grant program to help local governments purchase the technology and infrastructure needed to make those systems work seamlessly.
